Living the Present Moment

Living in the Present.  We hear it a lot.  What does it truly mean?

How do we do that?  This should be a normal state of mind, but we are so wired to think about the last and the futur, that we forget to live the present.

We overthink the past:

  • What could I have do better?

  • Did I say the wrong thing?

  • He did this... She did that... Why?

We overwork because we want more in the future....

What if the present could provide all the answers that the overthinking of the past and working towards the future could provide us.  A slower pace, a calm mind appreciation for what we have, instead of wanting more.  Accepting that who we are, right here and right now, is perfection.  Trust that we have come this far and that living the present moment, can only mean less stress and more living.

Living in anything else than the present moment creates anxiety and discomfort, because there is nothing we can do about the Past and the Future.

The Past is over and done.

The Future hasn’t happened yet.

If we didn’t like a past experience, we can learn from it and do better next time.

If we’re worried about the future, we can prepare as best as we can in order to have the results we want.

The Present is the only tense we have control over.  Live it.

REFLECTIONS:

  • Do you feel anxious?

  • Are you an overthinker?

  • Do you continuously run situations in your head and catch yourself not being present with the ones you love?

  • What can you change about it?
