Understanding

When you think of the word “Understanding”, what do you think of?

  • Hearing well

  • A parents telling you what to do

  • Teachers

But in everyday life, relationships, the word “understanding” means putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.  Learning the whole truth behind the stories associated to the person or situation.  Trying to understand they’re view, their way of being acting, living or speaking to others.

Nowadays, we draw quick conclusions to giving someone a diagnostics.  ADHD, Narcissist, psychopath or more.  First of all, these clinical terms should only be given by professionals.

Even with a diagnosis, these people are human beings after all.  We are all human beings with our own baggage.  People have lived they own “something” that has gotten them to any point.  They’ve had to carry more than you think.  By allowing yourself to feel compassion, you immediately become more understanding and accepting of others.  It’s a chain of events that can turn you into a more caring human being, towards yourself and others.  With practice, it becomes second nature and part of you.

We all live different lives, different backgrounds, parents, upbringing and values.

There is always someone out there living something better and something worst than us.  We need to focus our energy on our own self and practice understanding ourselves, to better understand others.

Bu understanding that, we also understand that polar reactions can occur and shouldn’t be judged, as long as it remains in the realm of some respect of one another.

Understanding is being accepting

Accepting is the best way to free ourselves of judgement and pain associated to everyday life.

People often find themselves with their daily stresses and pile them on until they are overwhelmed or on the brink of breaking.  They feel their world is an unsurmountable mountain.  By taking a step back, understanding and accepting our situation, we are immediately brought back in the present moment and more able to tackle what needs to be done.

Understanding our differences would eliminate a lot of pain and wars in the world.  IF you start with yourself, you will spread the word and make this world a better place, even if it’s just for you.

Let your lantern be lifted and light the world and hearts of others, so we can light the hearts of others around the world.

Understanding + Accepting = Love and Unity

REFLECTIONS:

  • Are there things you are less accepting of, that you could work on?

  • Does your ego get in the way of seeing others truly?

  • What’s one thing you would like to understand better, to free yourself of judgement?
