21. Finding My Life Partner

Updated: Dec 16, 2024

It was whilst travelling that I found my Life Partner. My home away from Home. Serendipity you'll say... In Thailand.

Half way around the world I met who is now my husband and the father of my children, an Englishman, in Koh Tao, Thailand.

I had been to London, Paris, Bangkok and I had travelled in the south of Thailand... It's on January 4th of 2007 that I first met him. (My grand-mothers birthday) On the front bench of Phoenix Divers, a scuba diving center, where a bunch of friends met up before going out for dinner. We invited him to join us. From then on we became friends... We even did our scuba diving courses together, to become guides.

On January 18th 2007 we were an item and on January 20th 2007 we were moving in together. Quick yes! When you travel, you try to save money. So it was the wisest choice to make.

I hadn't been single for long, but our minds connected. We had a great connection together.

We did our course together, we did our activities together, moved on to travelling together, and moved back to the UK to his family home together and went back working and travelling together again. We we're inseparable. We we're just happy being together and spending our free time as a unit.

We had gone through more together in 6 months than most people in years. We knew it was something special. Something strong and built to last.

In 2008 we were still going strong and decided to move back to Montreal Canada together and start something. He's 5 years older than me and wanted to establish himself somewhere and start investing, working hard and earning. So we did.

Investing, working, getting our first dog, buying our first home, renovating it together... We were just simply a great team. Great partners and lovers. That's how we knew it was meant to last. Maybe a little naive, but willing to do anything necessary to make it work. We completed each other.

To this day, we are together, we are more than lovers. We are best friends, our support team, partners, business partners and parents. We are a team together. There are ups and downs, but after 17 years, we see that we are no longer the same and we see now, with children, it is more important than ever to make all the efforts necessary to keep our relation strong.
