Chasing a Career Path

Updated: Dec 25, 2025

Regular work wasn’t for me. I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to be told what to do and I can’t stand the 9 to 5 kind of work. It just drives me crazy.  Some people can take it, I can’t.

Been there done that!  There are so many types of people and bosses.  It’s hard to find the right type of person that you know you’ll be able to be told what to do by.  Some are controlling, some like to micromanage, some re stuffy, cheap or even greedy… They all have something that would make me tick.

Deep inside I always knew I was an entrepreneur to the core. What’s the definition of an entrepreneur?  Someone that can’t stand being put in a box and follow the crowd.  Be a sheep.  Someone that has a drive to think outside the box, that has overflowing ideas to make their own path.  It’s not to say that this path also has its hardships or tough times.   Let me tell you, it does!  Your brain is always working and you’re always “working”.  But it’s thrilling and makes every nerve ending work and tickle you.

I haven’t gone to school.  Often I felt like an imposter. Like I didn’t deserve this position, because I didn’t have a ”Degree” to be legitimate. I felt unworthy or an imposter, to be able to succeed. But everyone must live and eat. So, I gave it my all.

My grand Father once told me: “The future belongs to the ones who wake up early and work hard!” Well, that didn’t land in a deaf ear. I hadn’t finished my college degree, I only had a high school degree and a strong will to succeed. I decided to take a private course and pay for it, in a country where most studies are free. After my travels I took another course, to start my own business and I was off with my will and determination to succeed. I was going to work. There was no other ways around it. I had tried the school way and it just wasn’t for me.

Everyone has their own path they need to follow and that was mine.

You will reach your path at your own pace, at your own rhythm, and with your own unique set of skills. You simply have to believe in yourself and believe in the path you are meant to follow. That Little voice inside you, you really must learn to listen to it. It’s called your intuition. It sometimes shouts at you and sometimes it only whispers the faintest of voice that we barely understand its meaning. It will find you.

Being a lawyer or a doctor is not for everyone… Being in school for hours, months and years on end, can demoralize someone more than give them wings. If your mission is to save people’s lives and that this need is stronger than your hate for school, you’ll just have to persevere. Either way, you’ll have to persevere in something, at some point in life.

Life is made of ups and downs, easier and tougher times, but that's just what life is. In the end, it brings you joy and happiness. Simply believe in yourself! You deserve it.

What was your path?  Did you listen to your intuition and follow your dream?  Did you settle?

Or are you living your dream life?

What made you take that decision?  Did you have someone that uplifted you when you made your choice?
